“And God will exalt you in due time, if you humble yourselves under his mighty hand by casting all your cares on him because he cares for you.” —1 Peter 5:6–7
Anxiety can be a heavy burden, weighing down your heart and mind with worries about the future, uncertainties, and fears. But in the midst of these anxieties, God offers a profound starting point for relief: humility—the bend that spares you the break, the surrender that happens before the snap of self-sufficiency.
1 Peter 5:6-7 says to humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. That doesn’t mean thinking less of yourself; it means thinking of yourself less. Humility is a deliberate act of surrendering to God and recognizing that you can’t, and weren’t meant to, carry all your burdens alone.
