“So then, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34)
Yesterday’s tomorrow is today’s right now, but the tomorrow of today isn’t here yet, which means you don’t have to tend to it with your worry. Tending to the future with worry today is like tending a garden that hasn't been planted. Sure, you might have weeds that need pulling and plants that need watering next week, but right now, it’s only in your imagination because there is no garden yet.
Even if you are certain you are going to plant a garden, caring for it ahead of time is nothing but wasted effort. Sure, concerns will arise—but you were made to meet them as they come, not in advance. The principle of not worrying about what’s next applies to everyday life. When the future becomes the present, we're still told not to worry about the next day.
