Today, as any other Saturday, I was going to dance practice with my dance team. But today it was different. We held a car wash as a fundraiser for part of or Dance Team to go to South Africa. They are going to make a difference and even put on a little recital for them if there are enough dancers going.
Anyway...I was in downtown Hamilton, Ont about to take a bus up to the Dance Studio. The bus I was going to take came but it was the going the long way and I was already late. SO I decided to take the bus that started going the same way as the first bus but it eventually changes routes so i would have to walk part way.
As I'm on my way to that bus stop, I see a man sitting there in his wheel chair. He had a speech deficiency. I smile at him and he started talking to me. He asked me my name. I said Jessica. He spelt out his name with his fingers. TROY he wrote. I smiled and repeated his name. I shook his hand and said it was nice to meet him but my bus was leaving (and it was) I was about to let go when he pulled my in for a hug. I almost started crying. He didn't know me I didn't know him. It started with a smile and ended with a hug. He told me to have a nice day. I did. I had a great day. That moment made my day. People with disabilities are important too. What makes your day?
