Wanna Swing?
Dear Child,
Wanna swing?
I'll push you.
I'll be at the end of the slide ready to catch you.
I will lift you up so you can reach the monkey bars...
Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on you and catch you when you fall...
Because there will be times throughout your life
when you won't have the strength to hold on tight.
You hands may get slippy and your body may feel weak.
I will catch your tears as they trickle down your cheek.
Never, ever say that you give up...
Turn to me and simply ask for help.
Because I will never, not once, let you hit the ground.
I will calm your voice during your screams and shouts.
I promise to have patience with you while you pout.
If you trust me, we can balance out the seesaw.
Begin to make things right and sort through all these wrongs.
And if you truly trust me and want a challenge,
then I dare you to take a leap of faith and join me on the swings!
There's a reason why you loved them as a kid...
I will push you, support you, and most importantly love you!
But if you decide to let go and do things on your own..
You'll fly for a minute and then find yourself alone.
I can give you joy and I will make you fly...
You'll feel the wind against your face as you soar towards the sky.
A Father/Daughter memory... Yes, we have laughed much together.
Now, at this moment, you are questioning oh so much.
I really wish we could have stayed in touch...
The pain, unwanted ache inside you, the reason you feel so incredibly weak...
is because in the distance of your heart, you hear the swings' lonely creak.
So I wrote you this letter in hopes to give you an answer...
