So say you had a million dollars in your pocket right now. Yeah, I know big wad of cash to have in you pocket. Anyway, your walking along the street and you see a man selling chocolate bars. Boy, do you love chocolate bars. You walk up to the man and ask him how much a chocolate bar is. He replies, "One million dollars."
Now, obviously this is not very realistic, but seriously I doubt that anyone would pay one million dollars just for a chocolate bar. That chocolate bar isn't worth that much cash is it? No.
My point here. If you have received Jesus in your hear, its like carrying around all the money in the world. My salvation is priceless because I love Jesus sooooo much. I wouldn't give it up for anything in the world.
If someone walks up to you one day and says, "I'll give you the world." What would you say? This idea sounds really good to you. This man is giving you anything your heart desires. You smile and then he says, "Wait, but there is a catch."
You frown, afraid of what you will have to do, and he looks at you and says, "Give me your salvation."
Obviously, we cannot give someone else our savation, but think about it. Would you be willing to sell out your soul? You might be thinking, but I'll have the world! Yeah, great you got everything you ever wanted. Let me crush your dreams for a second. Lets just say we are around sixteen years old, so on average we might have another seventy years left on this earth. Yea okay, right now that might seem like a long time—a long time to have everything you want. But if your giving up Jesus Christ, that time is going to fly right by, and then what happens. I'll tell you what happens. Everything you ever had is gone. Where does it go? Oh, I don't know. Your children maybe, the government, charity, the garbage, who knows. Anyway, now your dead, and let me ask you, were are you going now?
Not heaven. Remember, you gave up your soul. Yea gave it up—an eternity with God—for a few years of having whatever you wanted. And let me tell you, I guarntee that in that time you weren't all that happy. Don't give up on God and salvation, because you think the world is more important. God is the most important aspect in your life. He CREATED you! He DIED for you! He ROSE AGAIN for you! He UNCONDITIONALLY LOVES you! You can't give that up for the world. You would be a fool to.
Matthew 16:26," What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?"

Comment by Averi Brooks on September 6, 2012 at 8:44pm Wow great analogy. I think God showed me this at just the right time. Haven't been on here in a long time and this is the first thing I read. Thank you again so much. I love this verse, and I definitely need to start living my life in a way that is pleasing to God that puts him first and not myself.
