I LOVE photography! I think its because you can make something so simple into something beautiful and creative. It can be such a small thing, that, when you go up to look at it with the naked eye, it's not impressive at all. But when you grab the lens and zoom in, you can't believe how beautiful ____ (insert "unimpressive small thing here"), is! It makes you appreciate it even more! If you've seen Soul Surfer, there is a scene where Carrie Underwood, the youth group leader, puts pictures in front of the group and asks them to guess what the images are. At first the pictures are really close up and the answers she gets are random and no one can seem to guess what the image is. Then when Carrie zooms out you can tell exactly what the image is. Her lesson was that when you are looking too closely for something or at a situation, sometimes its hard to see and understand and you have to step back and see the big picture!
At my church today we had a very similar lesson. I never knew what a cornerstone was but now that i do I am making a pact that I make Jesus my cornerstone. My pastor stressed that the cornerstone is the necessary part of every building that holds the whole thing up, angles the building, and a bunch of other things. It's the strongest, hardest, and biggest stone in the whole building and without it the building will not stand. The building falls over and cannot support itself. The cornerstones of my life used to be things that seemed important. What my pastor said today was that Jesus needs to be your cornerstone! Without Jesus life seems to fall apart! Those little things don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Jesus is a BIG thing and he can give you the power to get through anything...you just have to make him the base of your life and the source of which your love flows!
The next series from my church is called "The BIg Fish" and about jesus taking control of your life and being the BIG FISH! The kickoff for this series is tonight at eight on animal planet..Hillbilly Handfishin!(:

Zachry on August 2, 2012 at 6:32pm Wow this post was a real eye opener for me..a lot of times I feel like I'm just falling apart or like I can't handle what life's throwing at me, but reading this made the whole reality of it hit me; if I fully make Jesus the base of my life I'll be able to get through that stuff! Just having Him in my life isn't enough, I have to base my life on Him!! Thanks!
