Seeing God In Your Life #2     -     The Little Things God Can Do

Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, there was a girl in seventh grade. She had a really big project coming up the next day, and was really stressed out about it. She was sitting at her desk, ready to pull her hair out, trying to get something good and convincing to say for the debate the next day. She had some ideas already, but they were all weak points that even she could easily put an end to. She sat at her desk for another 10 minutes. It was getting very late.

She walked up to her Mom.

"Any ideas?" she asked.

"Sorry, no." her mom replied. Basically. Long story short, nobody was able to find a way to help her. Finally her mom said, "How about you go take a shower? That might help revive you and give you some new ideas."

So the girl did.  As she stood under the hot water, she began to relax. And as she relaxed, her mind cleared. And as her mind cleared, she decided to ask God for help.

So, standing in the shower - at what, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30? - she prayed to God, asking for him to give her some kind of inspiration.

Dear God, please, please, give me something to say. Please help me with this assignment, even though it's not something that should matter to you.

...

Amen.

And roughly a second after she said amen, she got the perfect, unarguable idea. So, standing in the shower late at night, she found herself grinning and thanking God. As fast as she could she washed her hair and sprinted out to her desk wearing a towel. She wrote down the entire idea God had given her, and it was fabulous!

I'm sure you figured out that "she" was me. And that was real, even if the dialouge was a little off. :P But it was then that I started to see all of the little things God does in my life. Helping to take away pain, giving me ideas, helping me through my homework, allowing me to relax, showing me things I wouldn't have seen otherwise, making my locker become magically, um, how do you say it...not jammed? ...there are so many little blessings he gives us that we dismiss as normal, simply because we don't realize he's there. But ask God for the little things with your heart, and he responds. He cares for you, even in the little things. And the more you pray, the more little things he does that you can start to notice - the more little things he will do because you're asking and listening.

Prayer can help you to see all the little things. Often all you have to do is ask him to show you. :) And all you need for more little things is prayer. Turn to him for help and he can take the weight off of your shoulders.
