Running is exhausting.
Really, when you're running FROM something. Guilt, sin, lust, out of fear.
When you're running towards what you desire.. Well, it doesn't seem as bad does it? The Bible says when we follow God's commands we benefit. Our own, worldly desires are for now, and now only. Alot of people feel they have to repay God, and think "How far am I now?" and "Have I done enough?"
Well, I hate to break it to ya.. But we can't. We absolutely cannot repay God for what he has done in the long run. We continue to run; run from things He doesn't like. Hoping to achieve what will satisfy us in the end. If you wanna be sure, wanna know it will be rewarded, work towards it without realizing what you're looking for. You've heard it said before, "True happiness comes from our heart for others. Giving over receiving. It feels better to bring a smile to someone else." But how many people are actually like that? Not alot that I know, I can tell you.
Let me put it this way.. Life is a race. But it's not competitive. There is a bright, shiny trophy waiting for each and every one of us at the finish line. There are turns, and jumps, and lane changes. But we aren't running to out run eachother. We aren't running because there's something chasing us. We run for the trophy. Well my motivation, is my love for God. Yes, eternal life is great, but what if you got into heaven and you had everything you've ever wanted. Everything you've ever dreamed of. Everyone you've ever loved.. But no Christ. Would you still want to be there with all your possessions if Christ wasn't there?
We still want to repay God. We give ourselves over, make ourselves slaves for him, because we love him and are thankful for him. It's not like when your talking to some girl and embarrass yourself, and your buddy comes up and saves your butt, And now you owe him one. It's not something we can show gratitude for in a simple charity donation, or thankful prayer. Our whole life is our way to show him that we love him. That we are soo thankful for his forgiveness, for his love, for everything he has done!
We go through many hardships, many struggles. And we will be rewarded for how we handle those struggles, and how we choose to live. My point being that our lives, are our chance at that repayment we've been talking about. And we can't finish this race alone. Everyone misses that one pothole, or that hurdle. We could've used someone that had said, "Hey, man! Watch out!" and you can do that for the person in the next lane. We're here to help eachother, and when we see the next person slowing down, to support and encourage them.
I'm thankful for the people there for me, and I'm always here for anyone. I continue to run towards God's open arms and hope I don't run off course.
