So I've been wanting to share some thoughts with you girls about one of my favorite books...Philippians...so here's a little blog about the first verses on it. Here we go! :)
So, obviously Paul wrote this book, but he also had Timothy help him with this one. It was written in about A.D. 61 from Rome, and he wrote it while he was in prison, and that means alot to me as Paul is in a Roman prison...(he IS a roman citizen...so technically he shouldn't be in prison.) and he's writing all of this while in PRISON! I mean, prison isn't a joyful place, it isn't even "tolerable". Well, let's start out in verse 1 and we'll end at verse 6.
Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayer for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. So he gives his greeting of grace and peace...and I didn't know if any of you girls have noticed that he always says grace before peace as you can't have God's peace without His grace...anyways. i thought that was pretty cool. :) Then he says that in his prayer for us, he prays joyfully because of how we take part in sharing the gospel. I mean, if you're feeling down this had better make ya feel better. The Bible is basically mentioning you right there and thanking you! And this verse really encourages me to continue walking in Christ without compromising, cause Jesus WILL recognize you! He's not blind, and he doesn't just see a big church serving Him. He sees many individuals using the unique talents that HE gave them to give glory back to Him, and that means so much to Him. And then there will be times that I feel just like a loser, like I'm not filling in the place I should be, but there is a SECOND part to the verse. And it kind of fixes the what the world seems to be struggling with. "I'm not good enough," "I don't have any confidence...I'm so insecure." "i'm not cool enough"
Well, being confident in what Christ has told us, remember that He will conitnue the good work he began in you, and he will until He comes here to take us *home*. Now I don't know about you guys, but that means so much to me! He really isn't finished with me, and it's not just a cliche. He made a promise to finish you, and He doesn't end stuff sloppy or ends loose. He's still with you :)
