God Girl

Hey God Girls :)  I am new on this GodGirl website, but I feel like God is nudging me outside of my comfort zone.  So I am going to share with you all, my testimony.  I was baptized as a baby, but since then I switched churches and here, it doesn't really count unless you decide for yourself that you want to follow Jesus for the rest of your life.  So I was baptized again (but in the eyes of my new church, for the first time) on July 22, 2012 at age 14. So the following story is my testimony.  I never felt like it was special, but I have realized that it is.  Because to God, I am special. I hope that my words will challenge you and make you think about your own lives and your own stories.  My name is Michaela Lembeck, and I am fourteen years old. For thirteen years of my life I was a Catholic and had Catholic beliefs and attended a Catholic church. In December of 2011 my family began attending FAC, a Christian Church, in the hopes that the youth programs would draw my family ever closer to the Lord. And it has been an incredible journey. My faith has grown so much stronger and I have come to have a much more personal relationship with Jesus. Baptism to me is a promise, a promise to myself, to my fellow Christians, and most importantly to God; that I will always strive to put God first in my life, that I will strive my whole life to follow God and Him alone, that I will love God with all of my heart, all of my soul, and all of my mind. In making this promise, I hope to grow even CLOSER to God. I pray that by making this promise to God and myself, and even to my fellow Christians, they will help hold me accountable, and at times if necessary, help keep me on the path to my Heavenly Father if I am struggling. When I immerged from the water that Sunday, I immerged with a new kind of peace, a new kind of life. Coming into highschool this year I want to be someone that if anyone looks at me, they will not see me but my Father who lives in me. That Sunday, the first breath I breathed after I immerged from the water, I was no longer Michaela Joy Lembeck, a believer, but instead was: Michaela Joy Lembeck, new in Christ. The only thing that now defines me is my Savior, my Lord. For without Him, where would I be now? Because through Jesus' death on the cross, I have life... and the chance at everlasting life.    I pray that after you have read this, you can evaluate yourself as did I.  And if you need to make changes in your life to be closer to Him, then make them!  Because in changing the way you act to be more like Christ, God will transform you and work His power through you.  I hope this helped at least one person :)

God Bless-  Michaela :)

I don't think you can just be baptized and be saved.  I believe that you must ask Jesus into your heart and accept that you are saved since He died on the cross for your sins. See, growing up Catholic, I just never looked at it that way.  I just thought that He was already in me.  The idea of asking Him into my life never occured to me until I came to my new church.  I asked Jesus into my heart this April on a youth group retreat at a lake called Lake Champion.  Haha that's a pretty important part of my story that I left out!  So sorry! And thank you for your kindness :)

This is an amazing testimony!!! Although I do have one question...do you believe baptism itself saves you? Because I  believe that salvation comes when you give your life to Christ, and baptism is a just a public symbol of that choice. i'd like to hear what you think! And I'm glad to hear how much stronger you've grown in your relationship with God! :)
