This year in school I will be learning about evolution twice, in Biology and in Western Heritage. It always makes me angry when I have to learn about that, especially if the teachers present it as a fact. It is obviously wrong if you believe in what the Bible says. So, I was wondering how I should deal with this, and what you girls would do?

Comment by Adrienne Latham on September 3, 2012 at 7:59pm i had to learn about this last year, it was rough and I couldn't even believe what they were saying ,but as long as you beleive in Jesus and you know whats right then it shouldn't be a problem. Just let others think what they want to think and you can just go on and forget about it. Nothing to worry about.
Jordan is exactly right! When I learn about it, I have a very hard time sitting there listening to my teacher because I know what I believe. Here's the one thing I don't like is that teachers won't warn you about your believes before we start learning it. I had a teacher in 7th grade who did that, and that was it! Just remember what you believe and you will be fine. The school isn't telling you to live in evolution. They just have to teach it because its in the content for science. They know you may not beleive it, but they have to teach it anyway. Also your teacher may not even believe in it, but they still have to teach it! I have a friend at church who is a science teacher and she hates teaching it, but she teaches it anyway because she doesn't want to lose her job! I hope this helped!
I agree with Jordan!
Comment by Jordan Carmichael on September 2, 2012 at 1:14pm Hey Alysha! I know EXACTLY how you feel. Any time I hear about evolution in school, I always get sort of angry. When you have to learn about it for school this is what I did. Pay attention, learn it, take your tests, don't believe it. Now knowing about evolution in some ways is actually a good thing. Say one day you meet a friend that believes in evolution. Now you know all about what she believes and you can use that in contradiction with the Bible. You would be able to show her why "such and such" is right base off of what you have learned in the Bible. When I went to a Christian school before going to public school, they taught us about evolution for that purpose.
Now when you start to learn this stuff in school, I know that anger sort of might build up inside of you when you are sitting there listening. I know it certainly did with me, and sometimes I just almost didn't want to listen to the teacher at all. Go ahead if you feel comfortable and ask questions about what the teacher is talking about—try and see if you can stump him, but don't get angry and upset and start yelling. That wouldn't be good. We live in a world where scientists just don't want to believe in God. Just as long as you know the truth, that is all that matters. Hope everything works out in school. Don't worry you won't study it the whole year.
