Romans 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel- for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…”
Ella:So you believe right? In God, I mean.
Bellaa: Sure! I go to church on Sundays and stuff…
Ella:So you call yourself a Christian?
Bellaa: Of course? Why?
Ella:You just didn’t shock me as person into that kind
of thing
Bellaa: Oh… well… er…
When did being a Christian become something to be ashamed of? Suddenly so-oo many children of God don’t want to admit it! I bet I could catch plenty of you readers out. Are you ashamed to be called a Christian? A daughter of God (or a son, but guys this is a girls blog so go get your own)?
Although Ella and Bellaa are imaginary parts of my brain (or rather, my namecourtesy of my old youth leader {Flair-Claire}’s nicknaming habits) I know that conversations like that would happen all the time if we were honest.
Us girls these days don’t want to be recognised as Christians- especially not outside of church. I know that playing Princesses got old a while back, but being a daughter of God- the almighty king- shouldn’t ever wear off.
1 Thessalonians 4:1
1 Thessalonians 4:1 “We ask and urge you to in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how to walk and to please God, [just as you are doing], that you may do so more and more.”
Ella-bellaa translation “You’ve been told and taught how to live and walk for God- and if you are doing it already, than great!- but do it more and better.
and Galatians 5:16&22
We, as daughters (and sons, but seriously guys- if you’ve read this far down that’s quite sad :P) need to live and walk like this- and that means that people should notice our qualities. And step one to walking and living for God (in the Spirit) is not being ashamed of who and what we are in Christ.
Let’s have a bit of a re-cap...
We are fearfully and wonderfully made
(Psalm
139:14
We are [to be] examples
(1 Timothy 4:12)
We
are loved
(Romans 8:38)
We are eternal
(2 John 1:2)
We are united
(1 Corinthians 6:17)
We are daughters of the King
(2 Corinthians 6:18)
Is that anything to be ashamed of? No? Well then, let’s give it a try.
WILL ALL GOD’S DAUGHTERS PLEASE STAND UP?
It’s time [and it has been for a while] for us to be recognised as Christians in order to being glory to God. We are His daughters- daughters of the King (which, according to my calculations, does actually make us real princesses) and He loves us and knows us better that we even know ourselves.

Comment by Suzy Regehr on January 12, 2012 at 12:08am a phrase from a song comes to my head.. "if you are ashamed of Jesus, He will be ashamed of you." I fully agree with this blog post! We need to stand up for Jesus and for the right! Let's let our light shine :)sometimes i think about if we had candles on top of our heads that showed are strength and relationship with Jesus how brightly would they be shining if we could see them? Thanks for the amazing blog post! :)
