God Girl

Lately I have felt like my life was pretty controlled. Then today I got some bad news. My youth Pastor for the last three years is moving to Zambia for 4 years to work as a youth person at a k -12 school. I am espically sad because he won't get to go on our youth groups annual mission trip, it was going to be my first. So just know that when you feel in control, be watching because God might just throw you some suprising news.

I also want to ask for some advice. Is it okay to be upset about this? I mean he feels like this is what God wants him to do, and I know God will give us a great new pastor, but is it okay to be sad? I am just trying not to wallow in being sad, but I can't help it. Please help.

It's fine to be sad, but maybe it really is what God wants for him. When I started going to a new church 2 years ago, the youth pastor we had really turned everything around for me. He was really just an amazing teacher and I kind of looked up to him like an older brother, but he left almost a year later. I was really sad and still am when we talk about him, but I know God called him to something that he's meant to do and that makes me happy for him. So look at things from his perspective. If he feels like God wants him to go to Zambia, then you should be psyched that he's such a loyal follower, be supportive and maybe even follow his example. God has weird ways of telling us what he wants and it's usually best to just go with it, because it will pay off in the end. Wallowing in sadness won't help much, so instead just trust that whatever God has planned for your youth pastor's trip is gonna be big and remember that He does everything for a reason.
