Boys are such a big deal in a girl's life, especially our age. Our world tells us to date and to hook up with anyone you feel attracted to. They treat it just like eating...nothing special. Nothing important. No big deal.
The world says date who you want. Be yourself.
But when we accepted Christ into our hearts, or when you will, we died to self and surrendered everything to him. And that means who we date.
It's so hard to like a boy and know it's not good for you or in the Lord's plan...I've been there. Especially if it's a nonchristian boy, please just save yourself the trouble and don't get into his life.
The Lord isn't against dating, but he wants us to wait for that one guy who is going to be the spiritual leader of the relationship. The guy who will treat you like the princess that you are, God's princess...the guy who will help you when you don't want to go on, the one who will honor and respect and love you with everything he has, following the Lord's will. A Christian relationship isn't even about the physical stuff. It's about growing together, helping each other in the other's faith and strengthening them. He may not even want you to get married, but whether he does or not, the relationship will be meaningful. If you do depart, you won't regret anything because you know that it was in the Lord's plan and you learned from it. A lot. So don't take relationships lightly...They're a big deal! And we know that waiting on the Lord is ALWAYS best for us, even when we're too stubborn to realize it.

Comment by Victoria Erdel on August 1, 2012 at 6:01pm I totally agree with this! I used to like a boy and he wasn't even the same religion. I thought that maybe if I got him to like me he would become a Christian. But after 2 years of having a crush on him I realized that it was causing more pain than good. I knew God didn't want me going after him. So I no longer have a crush on him, but I'm still friends with him, just in case he ever has any questions about Christianity.
Comment by Annabelle on July 29, 2012 at 9:04pm I loved this blog! It is 100% fact and so true! We shouldn't give our hearts away to anyone except God or until God places the right man for us in our lives. Don't waste yourself on a boy who's not even Christian!

Comment by Reagan Shane on July 26, 2012 at 11:42am I love this! So many of my friends have boyfriends and I don't think they even think about how many they have each year. It made me think of a bible verse I heard recently...I forget where it is but it says, "Guard your heart above all else, for it is the wellspring of life." :) :) :)

Comment by Haley G. Zachry on July 21, 2012 at 4:34pm Yes! I love this blog post! The thing we don't realize in our society is that life isn't about how many guys you've dated or anything like that, it's about serving God! And IF it's God's intention for you to get married, then he'll show you the right guy! I'm 18 and it took me 18 years to realize this unfortunately, but from here on out I'm waiting for that one guy! It was never God's intention for us to go around dating people, as young women our focus should not be on boys but on our growing relationship with God! It's hard to wait for the right guy to come around, but it's my belief that it will be worth the wait!
