Through Christ you can remain steady in the storms of temptation
What is the definition of this word
But what definition does the Bible give us on this word?
WHERE DOES TEMPTATION START?
I personally believe Satan is the ultimate source of all desires and actions contrary to God, I think that there is a lot of this action going on in our daily lives more now then before with the way that the world is today. Everyone is tempted to sin, almost daily, if not hourly. People are tempted to steal due to little money or no money at all, people are cheating in their marriages, people are tempted to carry on with ungodly things that they would so like to be rid of *smoking, alcohol, drugs, porn* etc there are so many more things that temptations fall under if we look at our daily lives we will see it all around us. If we really look at this word carefully temptation comes in many forms. Too often we think of being tempted as being enticed to do big things like stealing, murdering or committing adultery. But most often we’re tempted to be impatient, stingy, greedy, to gossip or any number of other things that we consider lesser sin. Satan strikes at our points of weakness in flesh.
If we think about it carefully temptation is nothing good, it’s nothing new, it’s been here from the beginning of time. Adam and Eve were the first to experience this with the *forbidden fruit* they were seduced by the devil to go against that what God said no to, they went against what God told them not to do *Something we all do often*. So they sinned *disobeyed God* and got punished for what they had done, but temptation goes a lot deeper in the Bible then just that, God also tests us through the devil’s temptation, Temptation is always some form of a test or trial, like Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, God gave them everything and asked them not to do something so simple, but the devil is always out and about to counter act God’s plan and blessing for us. It strengthens our faith, our spiritual muscles, it gets us to know our spiritual strength. God allows us to be tested because He’s preparing us for something that is ahead, it increases our confidence and our ability to recognize and resist the lies of the enemy.
Like it or not Temptation actually plays a massive role in our lives EVERYDAY, we need to fight this battle for it leads us to sin, it leads us to fail God’s test trial for the precious work He has for us and carries over to the next best suited person which they will be blessed in doing the work of the Lord and grow in Him *missing our opportunity, it holds us back from all that is good, right and that is of value to our lives. We need to go on our knees when we wake up in the morning and ask the strength of the Lord to touch our flesh and get us through a day filled with temptation and be able to say NO. To develop spiritual strength, we must pass all kinds of tests both large and small.
James 1:12 says, Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life. To endure temptation means to go through trials without giving up...to outlast the devil. Enduring also means going through a time of temptation without letting it change your attitude or commitment. Jesus understands what we are going through when we are tempted as He was tempted by the devil in the time when he was in the desert too for 40 days and 40 nights, it could not have been easy for Him, but He was faithful onto God, Jesus is someone to look up to, He was in flesh as we are and when He was tempted He never had a change of attitude, He never gave in and He was so faithful and very fruitful when resisting the temptation., we can definitely follow His example.
My dear brothers and sisters I preach this message to you not because I have overcome this but because I am dealing with this with great difficulty in my life. Too often we think that we can do all things that seem so simple in flesh.. it goes well for a while only to find ourselves back at starting point not too long after. Friends we need each other in this time, we need to uplift one another with prayer, encouraging words, love, and understanding but at the same time with stern honesty, we need to be there for each other in a godly manner. We are weak in flesh, we cannot resist the devil without submitting to God.
It's time to give in to God's temptations, He has the best intentions for you, He knows what is best for you and when submitting yourself to He who is perfect, you will bear fruit, let us stand firm and no longer flirt with the devils tempting ways, stay clear of it and rebuke it when it comes your way, for the Lord says: “Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor's] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him (James 1:12). And Trust and obey God, and rejoice in the promises found in Psalm 94:12-13 Be careful that you don't get in an "okay place" spiritually. I don't want to be average because I don't serve an average God.
The Lord has opened my eyes to what meaning temptation really has in my life, I have preached to all of you the key to breaking free from this, lets all fight this battle and take another step up to eternal life. Lets submit to God and receive all the fruitful blessings and opportunities that the enemy has deprived us of my brothers and sisters, we were weak through flesh but we are now able to break free with Christ..
Joyce Meyer “The only way you can have all that Jesus wants you to have is to be what He wants you to be. And that maturity comes in stages”
Joyce stated: I didn’t stop sinning until I finally got it through my thick head I wasn’t a sinner anymore.”
Matthew 6:33, seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
So know yourself and know your problems. Recognize your strengths and ask God to take care of your weaknesses.
John makes it clear (I Jn. 1:8-10) “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us
James explains in Jms.4:17: “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” James explains “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren” (Jm.1:14-16).
Father God we come before you today with a terrible sickness that follows us around, we tried fighting it in flesh for so long when we should have come to you at first hand Lord, Lord we know that You understand the mistakes that we make, the weakness in our flesh and the stupid things we do, and I thank you Lord for the grace that You have over our lives, the mercy and the love that You still have for us even when we do hurt You with our disobedience. Forgive us for our wrong doings Lord and for being so blind to the enemy’s ways I thank You father God for opening up my eyes to the strength that was so easily accessible all this time, please help us to resist the enemy in our flesh Lord and make us strong through Christ so that we may be good and right for You when You come to fetch all of Your children Lord. You know that it is not easy for us Lord, but we trust in You all of the way and we submit ourselves to You in full now Lord. Thank You Jesus, thank you Father God we praise Your mighty Name…Amen
